TECHLAB

Available for new contracts, Outside IR35

The engineer your product
team is missing.

Techlab is the consultancy of Sercan Turkoglu, a front-end engineer in London. Building for the web since 2015, most recently on rail and airport platforms used by millions of people.

What Techlab does

Techlab builds high-performance web applications and the systems other engineers depend on: component libraries, white-label architectures, shared tooling and testing infrastructure. The work is usually long-running. I join a product team, own a slice of it end to end, and leave the codebase easier to work in than I found it.

That has meant a train ticket purchase journey serving millions of users, a 50-component UI library documented in Storybook, white-label integrations for five partners on one shared codebase, and mission-critical airport systems where accuracy and uptime were the whole point.

It is one engineer, not an agency. You get direct contact, senior decisions, and no account manager in between.

Services

Contract and consultancy engagements, remote or hybrid from London.

Front-end development

Full features from design hand-off to production in React, Vue.js, TypeScript and Next.js. Including the awkward parts: payment flows, multi-step checkouts, SSR and CSR trade-offs, error states nobody wants to own.

Design systems and UI libraries

Shared components several teams can rely on. API design, theming, Storybook documentation, WCAG compliance, and the migration path that gets existing apps onto the library without freezing a quarter of work.

White-label architecture

One product, many brands. Configuration-driven feature toggling and per-partner theming, so launching a new client takes hours rather than a release cycle.

Full-stack and infrastructure

Node.js and Express services, GraphQL and REST APIs, plus the AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD setup around them. Tracing and dashboards so a slow page has an answer instead of a theory.

Performance and testing

Bundle audits, code splitting and lazy loading measured against real Lighthouse numbers. Test coverage built up across unit, integration and end-to-end layers with Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress and Playwright.

Standards and mentoring

Onboarding docs, code review guidelines, PR templates and style guides. The unglamorous work that shortens ramp-up time for every engineer who joins after it.

Clients

Companies I have delivered for, in rail, aviation, marketing and construction.

How a project runs

Small and predictable. You always know what I am working on and what it will cost.

First

A call and a look at the code

Half an hour on what you are building and where it hurts. If there is a repository, I read it before quoting anything.

Then

Scope, price, start date

A short written plan: what gets built, in what order, and what is explicitly out. Fixed price for defined work, day rate for ongoing engagements.

After that

Weekly, in your tools

I work in your repo and your board, ship in small pull requests, and write a short update every Friday. No status meetings needed.

Tell me what you are building

A paragraph is enough to start. If it is not something I can help with, I usually know someone who can.
